Obi Nwabuzor Events is a full-service, global event planning firm with a profound mission: creating spaces where Black joy thrives. For over 12 years, we've specialized in creative planning and design for culturally aligned weddings, special events, and corporate gatherings.
Our work centers cultural authenticity in every detail—from the venues we select to the vendors we partner with to the experiences we design. We believe that transformative gatherings are essential for joy. Meet Obi
Obi Nwabuzor Events was founded by Obi Nwabuzor, owner, creative director, and lead planner, who is widely respected for her culturally-centered approach to event design and exceptional strategic planning skills. The daughter of Nigerian immigrants, Obi grew up immersed in a rich tapestry of Black culture, community gathering, and celebration. With a Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy and a Certificate in Event Management from George Washington University, as well as a Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP) designation, Obi launched her event planning business, creating memorable celebrations for clients.
Her work with leading social justice organizations, including the NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund and the Center for Constitutional Rights—where she produced high-impact events that generated millions in fundraising revenue and fostered deep community connections—solidified her dedication to amplifying Black voices and fighting against oppression and marginalization. Combining her decade-plus of nonprofit and cultural programming experience with her authentic passion for centering Black narratives and her sophisticated aesthetic, today, Obi and her team create meaningful, beautifully executed events that are each infused with her individual brand of mission-driven purpose and signature commitment to centering culture and community.
