Team
Obi Nwabuzor
CEO & Principal
Obi Nwabuzor Events was founded by Obi Nwabuzor, owner, CEO and Principal, who is widely respected for her culturally-centered approach to event design and exceptional strategic planning skills. The daughter of Nigerian immigrants, Obi grew up immersed in a rich tapestry of Black culture, community gathering, and celebration. With a Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy and a Certificate in Event Management from George Washington University, as well as a Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP) designation, Obi launched her event planning business, creating memorable celebrations for clients.
Her work with leading social justice organizations, including the NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund and the Center for Constitutional Rights—where she produced high-impact events that generated millions in fundraising revenue and fostered deep community connections—solidified her dedication to amplifying Black voices and fighting against oppression and marginalization.

Benny Etienne
Senior Event Producer
Benny Etienne is an event producer, experience designer, and project manager known for her thoughtful, people-centred approach and her meticulous command of every moving part. Raised in Vancouver and now based in Montréal, where she works fluently in both English and French, Benny has spent more than twelve years bringing ambitious ideas to life for clients around the world, from intimate celebrations to large-scale programs spanning multiple countries. Her work leading belonging experiences and cultural programming at Airbnb, along with her board leadership at Nigra Iuventa, sharpened her ability to design experiences that resonate across cultures and audiences. Today, Benny brings warmth, precision, and a deep love for the craft to everything she touches, and to the Obi Nwabuzor Events team, delivering beautifully executed events that leave a lasting impression.
